Ágúst Valfells
Understanding Energy Systems
Ágúst Valfells is an expert in plasma physics and sustainable energy with a strong foundation in mechanical and nuclear engineering. He holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan (2000) and a C.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iceland (1993).

Since joining Reykjavík University in 2005, Ágúst has played a significant role in the development and growth of the Iceland School of Energy (ISE). He has contributed to the creation and advancement of graduate programs in sustainable energy, ensuring their alignment with global energy challenges. His research focuses on electron beam dynamics, multipactor discharge phenomena, and strategies for the sustainable use of geothermal resources. Recent projects include modeling electron interactions in vacuum electronics and exploring innovative approaches to renewable energy systems.
As a professor and mentor, Ágúst has taught courses across various levels and supervised numerous students who have advanced into impactful roles in academia and industry. He collaborates with researchers worldwide, maintaining a global perspective in energy and engineering advancements.
