Student Support

Reykjavík University strives to provide students with the best services and facilities.

Choosing to study in another country is a big step. Living away from home can be a challenging experience, and there are many practical things to consider. We hope you will find the information needed to adjust to your new study environment.

Living in Iceland

Many things must be considered before arriving in Iceland and during the first few weeks of your stay. For instance, looking for accommodation and visas, obtaining your Icelandic ID number and registering for courses. Please read the sections in our practical information guide below; it might save you some extra work later.

International Office

We manage the exchange program and international admissions, develop global partnerships, and offer pre-arrival and support services to all international students at RU.

Student Counselling Centre

The Student Counselling Centre offers student support and includes career and guidance counsellors and psychologists.

RU Student Housing

The Reykjavik University student housing is located at Nauthólsvegur 83-85, at the base of Öskjuhlíð. The student housing comprises two apartment complexes, each 4-5 stories high. A total of 252 apartments are available for students.

Campus

Set in one of the most beautiful areas of Reykjavik, the newly built campus offers students modern, first-rate facilities. All of RU's operations take place under a single roof, where you'll find, for example, classrooms, a library, a gym, a cafeteria, well-equipped study areas and student rooms for group work. Students have access 24/7 to the study facilities.

Student Registry

The student registry is responsible for enrolling and registering new students for courses, managing room bookings, overseeing final exams for remote students outside RU, assisting with exam administration, and preparing for graduation.

Technical support

The IT department at Reykjavik University is responsible for technical services. They provide user service at the reception desk in the Sun between 9 - 12 and 13 - 16 on Mondays – Fridays. Students can also browse the help page at help.ru.is and send them a help request at help@ru.is.

RU Library

The library's role is to support and enhance the creativity and distribution of knowledge at Reykjavik University by collecting sources in the University disciplines, making them accessible, and providing our users with quality service. 

Student Unions

Reykjavik University offers a vibrant social environment where students quickly form a close-knit community. From the very start of their studies, students have ample opportunities to connect through events organized by student associations and through their academic programs.

Communications

RU Communications Department leads the university's marketing, public relations, and information-sharing efforts. Its purpose is to ensure that information about studies, research, and activities at RU is disseminated effectively to diverse target groups in alignment with the university's mission of ethics, sustainability, and responsibility.
