Spanning two years (120 ECTS), this program is ideal for students with an engineering or technical background. You’ll gain advanced skills and practical experience, working on solutions to real-world energy challenges in Iceland’s cutting-edge energy landscape.
MSc in Electric Power Engineering
Specialize in the future of electric power systems with this MSc-level program. This two-year course (120 ECTS) equips students with advanced knowledge of electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, focusing on sustainability and innovation. Designed for those with an engineering background, this program offers hands-on opportunities in Iceland’s renewable energy sector.
Dual Degrees
Earn two master’s degrees in two years by combining the Iceland School of Energy’s expertise in renewable energy with the specialized focus of leading international universities. Students first apply and are accepted into an ISE master’s program and can then apply for the dual degree option while enrolled.
MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering/Science & MSc in Earth Sciences
This dual degree program combines ISE’s expertise in sustainable energy with INRS’s focus on Earth sciences in Quebec, Canada. Over two years (120 ECTS), students begin at Reykjavik University, studying renewable energy systems and sustainability. They then transition to INRS to specialize in Earth sciences, focusing on environmental systems, geophysics, or hydrology, through a research-intensive thesis. Graduates earn an MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering or Science from ISE and an MSc in Earth Sciences from INRS.
MSc in Electric Power Engineering & MSc in Automation and Electrical Engineering
This dual degree program blends ISE’s strength in electric power systems with Aalto University’s expertise in automation and electrical engineering in Finland. Students complete the first year at Reykjavik University, focusing on renewable energy integration, smart grids, and power systems. In the second year at Aalto University, they study advanced topics in automation and control systems while conducting thesis research. Graduates earn an MSc in Electric Power Engineering from ISE and an MSc in Automation and Electrical Engineering from Aalto University.
Short-Term Programmes
Focused opportunities include summer schools, short-term courses, and conferences designed to expand your expertise in energy and sustainability.
Energy Field School
Come to Iceland and learn from the country’s expertise in sustainable energy. This MSc-level course, worth 6 ECTS, is the first step in our master’s programs and is open to graduate students, professionals, and final-year bachelor’s students.
